Vitale Barberis Canonico is a 357 year old fabric mill, family operated for 13 generations. When I received this beautiful fabric from VBC, the choice of where to take it to be tailored into a suit was easy. I took it to Sarto Ginza, where the level of personal service is unmatched. Although Sarto Ginza does offer a house style, they are happy to make suits according to each customer’s taste.

For this seersucker suit we made a few changes to enhance its wearability in the heat and humidity of a Tokyo summer. To begin with we made it without any lining, even in the sleeves, in order to increase the breathability.
このシアサッカーのスーツは、東京の夏の暑さと湿気の中でも着れるように、いくつか変更点を加えました。まず、通気性を考慮し、袖部分も含め、一切、裏地を使わないことです。
Next, we decided on three patch pockets as patch pockets require the least amount of fabric to make – again to reduce weight and increase breathability.
次に、ポケットのスタイルは、スリーパッチポケットにしました。ポケットの中でもパッチポケットは、使用する生地の量が一番少なくてすむのと、それによって重さを減らし、通気性を上げることができるからです。
