時計の随所で堪能できるハンドメイドならではの魅力
2001年、ドレスデン出身の時計師マルコ・ラングらにより歴史がスタートしたラング＆ハイネ。グラスヒュッテ時計の歴史を継承するこの工房では、ムーブメントの設計・組み立てから針、文字盤、ケースの製造まで、すべて職人の手作業によって行われる。それゆえ年間数十本程度の少数生産で、完成した作品はどれもが芸術品のごとく高品質となる。
新作の「アントン」は、ブランド第2作目のレクタンギュラーモデルであると同時に、初のトゥールビヨンを搭載した1本だ。上下に3つのラグを備えた上品なローズゴールド製ケースを採用し、高温焼成で仕上げた“グラン・フー”のエナメル製ダイヤルを備える。アールデコ調のエナメルダイヤルには、外周にスクエア状のレイルウェイを配し、6時位置のサークルに囲まれた開口部からはフライングトゥールビヨンが顔を覗かせる。
そして、シースルーバックを採用したケース裏から見渡せるのは手巻きキャリバーIX。粒金仕上げのプレート上に、ブルースティール・スクリューで固定された4つのポリッシュ仕上げのブリッジ、サンバースト仕上げの巻き上げ車など、徹底的に磨き上げられたムーブメントのパーツを擁す。さらに、プレート四隅の2ヶ所にはシャトン留めされた2つのダイヤモンドがセットされ、美しいムーブメントの眺めを引き立てている。
また、トゥールビヨンのつくりにもこのブランドらしいこだわりが。20世紀に活躍したグラスヒュッテ出身の時計師で、ドイツ時計製造学校（DUS）の教師も務めたアルフレッド・ヘルヴィグ開発のフライングトゥールビヨンのスタイルを踏襲。チラネジ付きのテンプや直径11㎜と大型の“こと座”型ケージなどを取り入れ、伝統的なグラスヒュッテ様式の複雑機構を堪能することができるのだ。
もちろん、本作もほぼすべてのパーツが職人によるハンドメイド。手作りでしか味わえない魅力がここにはある。
