見た目ではEVを主張しない

マツダ初の量産電気自動車が「MX-30 EV MODEL」だ。いま各社がこぞってEVを導入しているにはワケがある。それは2020年から欧州のCO2排出規制「CAFE（Corporate Average Fuel Economy）」が厳格化されたためだ。

自動車メーカーは、販売するすべてのモデルのCO2排出量の平均値が規制値上限を超えると罰金を科せられるという非常に厳しい内容で、したがってVWグループをはじめ欧州メーカー各社もこぞってEVを投入している。ヨーロッパを主戦場とするマツダにとっても重要な課題であり、欧州ではこのEVが先行して発売されていた。

国内では昨年10月にまずマイルドハイブリッド仕様のMX-30が発売されていたが、それと比較してもエクステリアデザインに変更点はない。右サイド後方に充電口と、サイドウィンドウに「ELECTRIC」のステッカー、テールに「e-SKYACTIV」のバッジが備わることくらいだ。

ボディサイズは全長4395mm、全幅1795mm、ホイールベース2655mmはマイルドハイブリッド仕様と同じだが、床下にバッテリーを収納したため全高のみ1565mmと15mm高くなっている。そして、マツダがフリースタイルドアと呼ぶ、いわゆる観音開きのドアを採用することも同様だ。

フロア下には35.5kWhの駆動用バッテリーパックを敷き詰め、フロントに配置したモーターで駆動するいわゆるFFだ。一充電走行距離（WLTCモード）は256kmとなっており、現実に即してみれば200kmを切るくらいだろう。開発者に尋ねたところ、より大きなバッテリーを搭載することも構造的には可能というが、生産から廃棄までライフサイクルアセスメントを考慮した上で、現時点でCO2排出量を最小化する最適値としてこの容量に決めたという。

インテリアデザインも特にマイルドハイブリッド仕様からの変更はない。メーター内やセンターパネルの表示にはもちろんEV特有のものが備わる。
