サイドに美しい彫金を施した多機能満載の特注モデル
チェコ生まれのポーランド人時計師フランソワ・チャペックは、アントワーヌ・ノルベール・ド・パテックと運営していたパテック・チャペック社の契約を解消したのち、1845年に自らの時計会社を設立。パリのヴァンドーム広場に店舗を構え、ナポレオン3世のお抱え時計師となる。
チャペックは19世紀に表舞台から姿を消すが、時を経て2015年、世界中の時計愛好家たちに支えられ復活。再生後のコレクションのうち最上位に位置するのが「プラス・ヴァンドーム」である。
2017年にブランド初のトゥールビヨンとして登場した本作は、特別オーダーによってのみ製作され、プラチナまたはローズゴールドのケースにて世界でただ1本のユニークピースとなる。ケースサイドにはハンマリング技法のエングレービングをセット。これは彫金界のトップアーティスト、ミシェル・ローテン・レベテスにより施されるもので、ローマ芸術の古典であるアカンサスの葉をモチーフに、緻密なミラー・ポリッシュ仕上げの葉の部分とブラックの背景とのコントラストが美しい輝きを生み出す。
文字盤の上側にはシャンルベ技法によるグランフー・エナメル製のメインダイヤルを装備。繊細なローマンインデックスと調和するフルール・ド・リス仕様の特徴的な時分針を備え、その下にパワーリザーブ表示を擁す。また、左下にワンミニット・トゥールビヨン、右下にセカンドタイムゾーン、6時位置にはそれと連動したデイ/ナイト表示も備える。
これらの多機能を実現するのが、チャペックがクロノード社と開発した手巻きムーブメント「SXH2」。オープンワーク仕様のダイヤル・ケースバックの両面から、個性的なトゥールビヨンケージをはじめ、面取りされたオープンラチェット、サンドブラスト仕上げのブリッジ、手作業による美しい装飾などが鑑賞できる。デザインも機能性も充実した見どころたっぷりのユニークピースだ。
