メカニズムが存分に味わえるスケルトンスタイルの極致
1955年の創業以来、大胆な発想により、既成概念にとらわれることのないムーブメント構造や、文字盤・ケーススタイルを生み出してきたコルム。象徴的なモデルが、歯車の輪列を一直線に並べたバケット型ムーブメント搭載の「ゴールデンブリッジ」である。全面シースルーのケースにムーブメント輪列が浮かんで見えるこのスタイルは、ブランドのアイコンとして長く受け継がれ、進化を続けてきた。その最新型が「ラボ 02」だ。
2019年に展開をスタートした「ラボ」シリーズ第2弾となる本作は、開発に2年の歳月をかけ、416個ものパーツからなる手巻きの新型キャリバーCO 300を搭載。ケージにコルムのロゴマークをあしらった6時位置のフライングトゥールビヨンをはじめ、12時位置のスケルトン状の香箱やその他の歯車などが宙に浮かぶフライングギアトレインを採用する。
これはサファイアクリスタル製の地板に歯車を取り付けることによって実現したもので、輪列に通常よりもはるかに長い軸と、ルビーの代わりになる軸受けを装備。また、パーツ一つひとつに丁寧な仕上げを施してスケルトンウォッチとしての魅力を最大限に引き出している。
4時位置にはさりげないグランドデイトをセット。2枚のディスクで示される大きく見やすいワンランク上の日付表示機能だが、ことさら強調することなく、スケルトンデザインの邪魔にならぬよう奥ゆかしく配置してみせた。さらに8時位置のパワーリザーブインジケーターは、サファイアクリスタルで仕立てたケースサイドで巻き上げ残量を表示するスタイルに。これもスケルトンを引き立てるためのオリジナル装備といえよう。
輪列を固定する地板やブリッジを取り払い、まるでムーブメントが透明なケース内で浮遊するかのように見えるミステリアスなこのモデル。40年前に自ら考案したスタイルをいっそう進化させた、究極のスケルトンウォッチである。
