フレーム構造ダイヤルとケース形状で新機軸を提示
巧妙に計算された形状のX型と長方形のフレームが、ダイヤル側でムーブメントの各パーツを支える。ケースバック側でも同じ形状のフレームだけでパーツを固定し、豊かな透明感を創出したスケルトンのダイヤルは、力強い印象も併せ持つ。ブラストは、2020年登場の新コレクション。名称は爆風の意味で、火山の幾何学的なフレーム構造が、それを象徴するディテールの1つ。そして何よりユリス・ナルダン初のメカニズムが、新コレクションを特別な存在とする。ダイヤルの12時位置にマイクロローターの姿を見せ、6時位置にはトゥールビヨンが備わる。ブラストは、スケルトン コレクションでは初めて自動巻きトゥールビヨンを装備したのだ。
搭載する自社製のCal.UN-172は、2018年に発表された手巻きスケルトン トゥールビヨンCal.UN-171の進化系。もともと12時位置にあった香箱にマイクロローターを設置し、自動巻き化した。ローターは、回転効率に優れる比重が高いプラチナ製。その左側には、自動巻き機構用の輪列が見えている。
主輪列は、Cal.UN-171からの転用だが、トゥールビヨンのキャリッジは新デザイン。ダイヤルを象徴するX型フレームを写し取ったキャリッジが、なんとも精悍である。それを収める、テンワに備わるひげゼンマイと脱進機はシリコン製。ユリス・ナルダンは、2001年にシリコンパーツをいち早く導入した先駆者であり、この技術のトップランナーである。ひげゼンマイには金属では作れない特殊なカーブを与え、ガンギ車とアンクルもフレーム構造として駆動効率と精度とを高めている。
最新の自動巻きトゥールビヨンを収めるケースでも新機軸を打ち出した。ケースサイドは大胆に肉抜きされて軽快さを出し、ラグは多方向に幾何学的にファセットカットが施されエッジが効く。そのフォルムはステルス戦闘機から想を得た。
