【Guide_1】 The Dakota(1 W 72nd Street) 〜ジョンが移り住んだ高級アパートメント「ザ・ダコータ」〜
Built in 1844, The Dakota was the first full-service luxury apartment building in New York City. It was conceived at a time when the Upper West Side was sparsely developed and far removed from the rest of the city’s population. Henry Janeway Hardenbergh (who later designed The Plaza and the original Waldorf Astoria) designed the building in a blend of Renaissance Revival and Victorian style.
「ザ・ダコータ」はニューヨークに出来た最初のラグジュアリーサービスアパートメント。アッパーウエストサイドにまだあまり人が住まず、繁栄していない時代に建築されました。ヘンリージェインウェイハーデンバッグ（後でザプラザとウォルドーフアストリアをデザインした）が、ルネッサンス復興とビクトリア様式を融合した形で建物を設計しました。
When John and Yoko first moved to New York from Liverpool, they stayed briefly at The St. Regis Hotel on 55th street (where they stayed from 1971-1972 and where John recorded a demo of War is Over If You Want It). From there, they moved into the artistic neighborhood of Greenwich Village to 105 Bank St. However, that home was broken into and robbed of valuables shortly after moving in. Soon thereafter, Lennon and Yoko sought refuge in The Dakota.
