しばしば“名機”の称号とともに語られるゼニスのクロノグラフムーブメント「エル・プリメロ」。なぜこれが名機と呼ばれるのか？　その理由はテンプの振動数にある。多くの自動巻きが毎時2万8800振動なのに対し、エル・プリメロは1秒間にテンプが10回振動する毎時3万6000振動。この振動数が多いほど、高い精度が出しやすい。一方で高振動なほどパーツの摩耗などにより耐久性に難が生じるのだが、ゼニスは組み立て時に特殊なオイルを使用することなどでこれを克服。事実、これまで他社でも多くの時計が本作を搭載してきたことが、その性能と耐久性の高さを物語っている。
