初のマイナーチェンジで“すべて”が最新仕様に

2016年にデビューしたジャガー初のSUV「F-PACE」が、2021年モデルとしてマイナーチェンジを行った。ただしマイナーチェンジといっても、エクステリアデザインを小変更したフェイスリフトではなく、パワートレインはマイルドハイブリッド化、一般的にマイナーチェンジでは大きな変更は加えないインテリアまで大幅刷新で、相当な気合が見て取れる。

まずエクステリアでは、フロントグリル、バンパー、ボンネット、LEDライトのすべてが変更されている。従来のモデルではフロントグリルの十数センチ上方に、ボンネットの切り欠き（シャットライン）があったが、それを新型ではグリル上端に揃うよう延伸し、切り欠きのないすっきりした顔つきになった。これも通常のマイナーチェンジではコストがかかるためやらないはずの金型をわざわざ変更している。

インテリアに関しては、もはや全面改定といってもいいくらいの内容。ダッシュボード中央には11.4インチのタッチスクリーンが配置されている。オンラインアップデートが可能なナビや、SpotifyやDeezer などの音楽配信サービス、カレンダー（Google Suite/Microsoft Office 365）アプリなどがデータ容量を気にすることなく使用可能という最新インフォテインメント・システム「Pivi Pro」をはじめ、ブラインドスポットアシストやアダプティブクルーズコントロールなどのさまざまなドライバー支援システムを標準装備。

ステアリングも新デザインに、ジャガーの特徴の一つだったダイヤル式のATセレクターをやめて、一般的なレバー式になった。レザーのセレクトレバーの中央に施された装飾ステッチは、クリケットボールをモチーフにしたものだという。またオプションの空気イオン化テクノロジー（PM2.5フィルター付き）まで備えるなど、いまどきの最新機能満載だ。

「F-PACE」のシフト — シフトはダイヤル式から変更、その横にはスタート/ストップスイッチやドライブモードセレクターが配されている。

またアクティビティキーが第2世代へと進化した。これは、一見するとスマートウォッチのような時計型のキーだが、タッチスクリーンに触れることでドアロックやラゲッジルームの開閉を遠隔操作できるもの。防水かつ耐衝撃性もあり、例えばサーフィンをする人などにはうってつけの装備だ。もちろん時計機能もついており、約2時間の充電で最長10日間使用可能という。
